Welcome to TOC Talk Burnaby - a virtual "staff room" for Teachers On Call (TOCs) in the Burnaby School District. This is a place for Burnaby TOCs to ask questions, tell about their experience, post great ideas and share stories!  Note: This list is intended for individuals who are presently employed as TOCs in Burnaby, primarily BTA members. BTA executive members are also encouraged and invited to be members of the list. This ratification is just a formality            (the BTA is required to keep an official record of all committee members on all committees).            You can nominate yourself right at an RA meeting, and be ratified that same meeting.           RA stands for Representative Assembly and is the meeting for all the school Staff Reps to come together           and discuss issues of common concern.  They are always held at Schou in the big meeting room; they start           at 4 PM and are usually over by 6:30.         4.       Remaining RA meetings for the year are as follows:                   3/13/2012  4:00 pm  Rep Assembly - Schou Ed Centre (Dinner provided)           4/24/2101  4:00 pm                        - 4041 Canada Way (@ Gilmore Ave)           5/15/2012  4:00 pm             6/12/2012  4:00 pm  CANCELLED 5.       Because there are @ 500 TOCs in Burnaby, we are considered to be a 'school site' unto ourselves, and            therefore allowed up to 12 staff reps to attend these RA meetings (12 is a proportionate number based on           the number of TOCs in Burnaby).           (Unfortunately, there are only 2 or 3 that currently attend, so come, have a voice, and be voted :) ! 6.       Because TOCs are always moving off the TOC list into temporary contracts and back onto the TOC list            again, we do not elect or appoint TOC Staff Reps; any TOC can attend any RA meeting. 7.       If you want to join the TOC Committee, you can plan to attend the RA, or ask someone (another TOC,            maybe) to nominate you from the floor, or better yet - attend the RA yourself and ask someone there            to nominate you.
